While hunger is decreasing in most regions of the world, it is worsening on the African continent. In 2024, over 307 million Africans are living without enough to eat. Morocco is now proposing the creation of an international fund dedicated to the continent's food security, aiming to break away from a model of assistance.
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, 1.4 million people in Morocco suffered from undernourishment between 2015 and 2017. This number was at 1.7 million people in the period between 2004 and 2006.
Although Morocco managed to make progress in the United Nations Food and Security report, the number of people suffering from undernourishment in the country remains high.
