The battle for hosting the 2030 World Cup final between Morocco and Spain is capturing significant attention in the Spanish media. Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation, shared his optimism with the newspaper "AS" that Spain will be selected to host the tournament's climactic showdown.
Louzán stated, «In tackling such a monumental challenge as organizing a World Cup—similar to the joint effort by the United States, Mexico, and Canada—we must present a perfectly unified bid. Our representation spans three continents and six countries. Partnering closely with FIFA and hopefully engaging the government, which I expect to support this bid led by Spain with a substantial 55% influence.»
He added, «The central issue stirring discussion is the location of the final. However, as you're aware, it's not an aspect we can determine at this juncture.»
«I'm utterly convinced,» he continued, «that there's no reason Spain shouldn't host the final of this centenary World Cup. Our mission is to secure this honor and deliver the most memorable World Cup edition in history with a comprehensive bid. We need a collective effort to organize a top-tier tournament coinciding with the World Cup's 100th anniversary.»
On the other hand, Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, argued in a recent interview that the final's venue would be chosen based on FIFA's objective criteria. These include stadium capacity, infrastructure quality, surrounding facilities, and various technical and organizational requirements.
Stadium capacity remains a critical point of comparison. Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium seats approximately 83,000 spectators, whereas the Hassan II Grand Stadium, upon completion, will boast a capacity of 115,000, making it the largest football-specific stadium globally.
