South Africa is 11 hours behind us. waw...not really convenient for us here to watch the world cup.

What can I tell you brother? The Moroccan community in South Africa was hugely deceived by the Atlas lions' recent performance in the qualifying stages as they failed to make it for 2010 WC in SA.
In the absence of the Moroccan team, it may sound crazy but I wish that any African country will take it.
To answer your question regarding the Moroccan community in S.A, I'm sorry but I don't have the exact number of Moroccans in SA but I can assume that it is in few hundreds only.
Presently, I'm at the end of a fixed term contract outside South Africa and I already booked my return ticket for next month's World Cup inchaa Allah.
Like most of Moroccan men, I love whatever is sport, especially soccer I mean football and you can add Cricket and Rugby.
New Zealand or the all whites as you call them are expected shortly in SA where they have to play Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia and make it to the next round; very tough group but anything is possible.
Well, at least this time South Africa doesn't have to compete with New Zealand as it is not cricket or rugby and on the paper both teams are not favourites to make it further than the 1st round but who knows!!!

If it does work in football, then see you (All Blacks) in the tri-nations, you guys definitely have an unfinished business with us (springboks)

i thought Moroccan community in SA is much more than a few hundreds.
all Moroccan wherever they are feel very sorry and are dispointed our national team didn't make it to the final . Hopefully they'll be able to qualify for the next WC.
here no one is expecting all whites to even make a draw in all their 3 matches. people here even think their team qualify because they were lucky. however they are optimistic and so confident their rugby team will win rugby WC which will be held here in New Zealand in 2011.

I want cameroon to win I think they are the best in Africa. they play real footbal.

You made me laugh brov, I still remember the advert. It is far from being the case here in South Africa. Moroccans are mainly based in Johannesburg the rest are scattered all over Cape Town and Durban but they are very few. We still have space for some other Moroccans as we are outnumbered by the other east European or Arab nations
Indeed, Cameroon is my team for this World Cup. I hope they go further than the quarter finals (1990) and why not wining the WC.

I think they need more than “the haka” to intimidate the other teams especially that some northern hemisphere teams are closing the gap with the Wallabies, the springbucks and the all blacks.
By the way and since you are originally from Oujda, are the Oujdis still dominating the Moroccan rugby as they used to be in the past? I remember they were a tough competition for our local team in Casablanca (COC). Frankly, I don’t know now what the level of the Moroccan rugby is in general. I saw them playing the seven’s rugby and they were ok.

believe me it won't be easy for any team coming here to compete for the world cup 2011. preparation here to held the competition already started and people are so much excited to see their team at top level.
unfortunately Oujdi are no longer dominating Moroccan championship because of many reasons. most importantly the retirement of many famous managers, technicians and qualified staff who really were behind the rise of this sport in the capital of the east. in other hand and generally speaking players in Oujda (talented) prefer to immigrate especially to Spain and France to look for better opportunities to secure their future.

I was just trying to get a reaction from you Nobody can deny the strength of the All Blacks away or at home. I still remember the Rugby World Cup final 1995 in South Africa; the all blacks were a great side with the unstoppable Jonah Lomu at his peak. It was a very close call (3 points difference between the two teams) it was the drop goal of Joel Stransky that won it for South Africa.

On the other hand, once again the Moroccan Rugby squad failed to deliver as they could not make it to the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. It is the 1st time that they went out in the early qualifying rounds, which indicates that the Moroccan Rugby is not at its peak.

We some guys like Abdelatif Benazzi, who is a pure product of Morocco (Oujda) who made us proud even if he played for the French team and captained the side in 1997. He nearly knocked the South Africans out of the 1995 World Cup (which they won) by a try which the referee ruled out in the semi finals.

I see you are a rugby specialist. i admit i'm not really a rugby fan but i enjoy watching big competitions like WC or international tournement. my favourite sports are soccer, handball and tennis. i also like badminton and practice it during my free time.
Yeap, the big Benazzi Abdellatif used to be the play maker for the French team and i still do remember his misadventures when he started up to play as a French international. his teammates used to intimidate him and even abused him with racist insults as they didn't accept him among the team being an Arab and Muslim. But the man was so strong and his patience gave fruits as he captained the team for quite sometimes. I really feel proud to see Moroccans of the world contributing each one in his field to represent our country and give a good image of it. Hopefully Allah ' s will we will go back to our beloved country to settle down and contribute to its development as much as we can.

I Visited SA twice. I love Capetown and would definitely move there if I can get a job .
I enjoyed the Table mountain and the view of Capetown. I loved the SA Braii.

I am glad that you enjoyed visiting South Africa. Cape Town is a lovely city but other cities are worth visiting as well; such as Port Elizabeth, East London, Durban... Probably on your next visit
As for finding a job and settling in South Africa, I think it is easier in comparison to some European countries. SA is the rainbow nation where a lot of races and ethnic groups live together, freedom of worship is guaranteed (very large Muslim community especially in Cape Town) and there are opportunities to have your own business, which is the case of most Moroccans. The only real negative thing is the high crime rate but again it is the case all over the world.
If you are a real Moroccan, you speak English (which I know you do) and have what it takes to succeed no matter what, then South Africa wants you
If you require any advice please ask.

NO SECURITY AT ALL! i was afraid even from taking taxi.......... i don't know, but it was really dangerous for me

Hello my brothers,
I am Moroccan living in Chicago and recently I have been offered a job in South Africa, Johannesburg, I am concerned about the safety specially a will be travelling with my wife (white American and 2 year old son). Can somebody confirm what I read in all the blogs are true or all of them are overstated ( Exp: you need to be on alert all the time, cannot walk after 6PM, cannot drive with windows open…)
Also I want my family from Morocco to visit me in South Africa, does anybody know if you need a visa and if so what is the process. Also how about travel from Johannesburg to Casablanca or Rabat. Is there a direct flight or you always have to go through Paris.

i am from Marrakesh and i lived in Johannesburg for 8 years , it was the best time of my life. i m living now in Ireland and i really do miss south Africa a lot. the weather the food the people the hole lot,
