I am wondering if anyone could explain to me what means by he following German proverb: Beware of a silent dog and still water!

I have not heard the German proverb "Beware of a silent dog and still water", but I know two German proverbs, which might have a connection to it:

"Bellende Hunde beissen nicht" (Barking dogs don't bite)

"Stille Wasser sind tief" (Still waters are deep)

As I understand them, the first means that someone making a big fuss will not really be dangerous to you.

The second proverb means, that you should not underestimate people just because they seem shy and don't say much.

it may be a big mistake when you think that the silent dog/ the still water isn´t / arn´t dangerous instead of the real opposit.
