After Ait Faska’s Holocaust memorial was demolished, Monday, by the local authorities in Al Haouz, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights issued a communiqué, accusing the NGO behind the project of «exploiting locals’ poverty».
The PixelHelper Holocaust memorial in Ait Faska, under construction since September 2018, was demolished, Monday, by the local authorities. They stated that the German NGO did not have the necessary authorizations to build such a facility.
After posting several videos, denouncing the situation of several Moroccans who had to pay additional taxes for their vehicles at the Spanish Customs, Anouar Bourabaa criticized the attitude of the Spanish authorities, accusing them of not informing Moroccans living abroad of their decision to trap them.
Several Moroccans living abroad, returning to Europe after visiting Morocco with their vehicles, which have provisional plates, found themselves stranded at the Algeciras port. They have to pay a sum equivalent to 30% of the value of their cars, as they are deemed to have been illegally imported to Spain.
Six Hirak detainees, including Nasser Zefzafi, announced, Friday, that they are officially asking for the removal of their Moroccan citizenship. The reasons behind their decision were addressed in a long press release.
Ait Faska will be home to North Africa’s first Holocaust memorial. In the small village near Marrakech, the project in the making will include an LGBTQ+ corner to pay tribute to gay Jews who died in the European concentration camps.
