Policemen on Tuesday morning arrested a man in the northern city of Assilah for his alleged link to a drug trafficking network.
The 43-year-old suspect was arrested in «Khondkiyyin» neighborhood in Assilah during an operation to unload drugs from a four-wheel drive vehicle to a warehouse, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that search operations led to the discovery of two tons and 320 kilograms of cannabis resin, suspected of being intended for traffic by sea.
The man was placed on custody pending the end of investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the source pointed out, adding that investigations are underway to arrest all the people involved in these criminal acts.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts made by national police to fight against drug trafficking.
