Tunisian Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi said, Tuesday, that his country respects Morocco's choice to normalize ties with Israel.

While visiting France, he stressed that «it is a choice that Morocco has freely made». «We respect the choice of Morocco, a brother country that we love very much», he told France 24.

«Each country has its reality, its truth, and each country has its diplomacy which it considers to be the best for its people», he explained.

On Saturday the Algerian Prime Minister estimated that the resumption of relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv is a «threat to the stability» of his country.

Mechichi revealed that the normalization of his country with Israel «is not on the agenda», indicating that Tunisia has not been approached by the Trump administration. Tunis and Rabat have the status of major ally of the United States outside NATO. The two have, moreover, signed a ten-year military cooperation agreement with Washington.
