Morocco : Drug trafficking attempt foiled, 1 tonne of cannabis resin seized in Fez

The Judicial Police of Fez thwarted, Monday evening, a drug trafficking operation of one tonne of cannabis resin near the city, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and the Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police.

This operation resulted in the interception of a lightweight car at the beltway leading to Outat El Haj and Guercif, National Police (DGSN) said in a release.

Search operations of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 40 bundles of cannabis resin totaling one tonne, the source added.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle fled and abandoned the car.

Investigations, conducted by the security services under the supervision of the prosecutor's office with territorial jurisdiction, are continuing to determine the possible ramifications of this case at the national and international levels and to arrest all the accomplices, the statement concluded.
