«Western Sahara is not within the territorial scope of the UK-Morocco Association Agreement», said Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa James Cleverly, answering a question by Labor party politician Kim Johnson.

«As is clear from the territorial application article of the Agreement, the UK-Morocco Association Agreement applies in the same way as the EU-Morocco agreements».

«The UK is clear that the application of parts of the UK-Morocco Association Agreement to certain products originating in Western Sahara, in line with European Court of Justice's ruling on that issue, is without prejudice to our position on the status of Western Sahara, which we regard as undetermined», he added.

For the record, on December 14 Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the Labor Party, launched a petition asking the government of Boris Johnson to «recognize the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination».
