Minister of Public Security of Israel Amir Ohana announced on Monday that he has phoned his Moroccan counterpart Abdelouafi Laftit and that they agreed to meet soon, either in Israel or in Morocco.
According to i24news, Amir Ohana said in a statement that he started this phone call in Darija (Moroccan Arabic), to stress the importance of the agreement to him. He thus recalled being from a Jewish family of Moroccan origin and affirmed having «waited many years to reach this agreement».

The particularly «warm» phone call was an opportunity to «underline the importance of the agreement signed for the entire region». «The two sides exchanged invitations to visit the two countries to strengthen cooperation on internal security issues, and agreed to meet soon, in Israel or Morocco», the statement concluded.
i24news recalls that Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced on Sunday that a Moroccan diplomatic delegation was visiting Israel for the opening of the Moroccan liaison office in Tel Aviv.
In January, Abdelouafi Laftit spoke with Israeli Interior Minister Aryé Makhlouf Dery.
