The Spanish government said this week that 62% of the 37 jihadists arrested in 2020 by the security forces were citizens of Moroccan origin. According to Europa Press, the government explained, responding to a question by Vox, that the people in list includes 23 Moroccans, six Spanish national, five Algerians, two Syrians and one from Egypt.
The government’s response indicates that four of the 37 people did not have documents that would allow them to be in the Schengen territory.
Indeed, in several questions addressed to the government, the far-right party questioned the cabinet of Pedro Sanchez on «terrorists infiltrated through migratory networks on the arrival routes in Spain».
In December, Vox even submitted two proposals to urge the government to declare the massive arrival of irregular immigrants as a «situation of national security interest» and «to prevent jihadist infiltrations through illegal immigration flows».
According to data from the Ministry of Interior, state security forces and organs have arrested 412 people linked to jihadist terrorism in Spain in a total of 230 operations since 2012 and until March 1 of this year, recalls Europa Press.
