The relative control of the epidemiological situation in Morocco has fostered the pursuit of the COVID-19 vaccination operation, minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, said Tuesday in Rabat.

The relative control of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, which is the result of the proactive and preventive measures taken by the public authorities, in particular the ban of movements at night during the month of Ramadan, fosters the pursuit of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, Ait Taleb underlined at the House of Advisors (upper house).

The national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, which was welcomed by everyone, continues with fluidity and exemplary management throughout the Kingdom, thanks to the good performance and proactive action of Morocco, in line with the high Royal guidelines, to protect citizens and, therefore, prevent the collapse of the health system, the minister pointed out.

The current challenge is to ensure the necessary protection for vulnerable groups in particular, and to contain, subsequently, the spread of the pandemic, he said.

The Kingdom should succeed, within a few months, in preserving the health of at-risk people aged over 55 and in achieving the most important goal in the framework of the expanded immunization strategy, which is to eliminate critical cases and deaths, in order to contain the pandemic and then achieve collective immunity, the minister added.

Even if the epidemiological situation is under control for the moment, vigilance is required to avoid a surge in COVID-19 cases, to preserve the achievements made by Morocco in the fight against the spread of the virus and to protect the health of citizens, he noted.
