A 40-year-old Moroccan who lived in Italy was expelled from the territory for planning a terrorist attack, Italian-language daily newspaper Il Giornale reported on Wednesday.

The man in question has reportedly been radicalized while detained in prison. The Italian Interior Ministry announced in a statement that the Moroccan national «became radicalized while serving his sentence and he had expressed his intention to sacrifice himself to ‘punish infidels’», the same source added.

After his sentence was served at the Terni prison, the man in question who was taken to an asylum seekers center, was then repatriated to Morocco. He was expelled from Italy for being a «social danger», investigators found.
