United States' Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Bonnie Jenkins, lauded Morocco's «invaluable» role in regional and international security during a visit to Rabat on Tuesday.

«I commend Morocco for its partnership and cooperation in ensuring greater security in Africa, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his visionary approach to the continent», Jenkins said after meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations, African security, and the upcoming African Political Conference within the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) in Marrakech.

Jenkins praised Morocco's «invaluable» leadership in nuclear non-proliferation, disarmament, emerging technologies, and regional security.

She emphasized the importance of global partnerships to address security threats and promote peace and prosperity.

The PSI conference aims to expand cooperation with African countries to prevent the trafficking of weapons of mass destruction.

The meeting was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Puneet Talwar, and the Director of the United Nations and International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Redouane Houssaini.
