A 24-year-old Moroccan inmate incarcerated at the Cantiello e Gaeta prison in Alessandria, Italy, devised a daring escape attempt on Monday, January 29th.

According to reports, the individual ingested battery fluid, presumably hoping to trigger medical attention and subsequent transfer to a hospital. However, his plan took an unexpected turn.

Once admitted to the hospital, the inmate, whose name has not been released, seized the opportunity presented by a waiting room visit. Attempting to capitalize on a moment of perceived vulnerability, he reportedly made a break for freedom. Details surrounding the escape attempt remain unclear, but local sources suggest it was short-lived.

Piedmontese secretary of the SAPPE, Vicente Santilli, confirmed the incident and provided further details. «Despite his attempts to attack nurses and verbally abuse those present, the individual was quickly restrained on a cot, treated for any potential harm caused by the ingested fluid, and returned to the prison facility that evening» he stated.
