Spain provided €11.6 million in humanitarian aid to Polisario in 2023

The Spanish government continues to provide financial support to the Polisario. «In 2023, Spain granted €11.6 million in humanitarian aid» to the Front, as revealed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in response to a written question from MP Idoia Sagastizabal of the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV), which supports the separatist movement, Iberian media reported.

This significant sum was distributed as follows: «€9.3 million through the interventions of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and €2.3 million through NGOs for development», José Manuel Albares said.

In addition to the national government's contribution, the 17 autonomous regions of Spain also provide substantial financial support to the Polisario, aiming to «respond to the humanitarian needs of Sahrawi refugees».
