The president of the Algeria’s National Assembly Ibrahim Boughali held, Monday, talks with France’s ambassador to Algiers Stephane Rometet, during which support for the Polisario was addressed.
During their meeting, Boughali reiterated «Algeria's determination to enable the Saharawi people to realize their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions», Algeria’s lower house said in a press release.
This message is addressed to the French government as reports on a possible recognition by President Emmanuel Macron of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara are circulating.
During their meeting, the French ambassador did not address the Sahara issue, preferring to focus on Algeria's real estate laws and investment reform and the easing of administrative procedures.
For the record, President Macron held a phone call on March 11 with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
