Morocco has been chosen as the guest of honor at the 21st edition of the Salon international de l'alimentation (SIAL Canada), held May 15-17, 2024, at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal. The event will highlight Morocco's rich culinary heritage and diverse agri-food and fishery products, marking the kingdom's 14th participation.

SIAL Canada brings together industry leaders to discover market trends, boost exports, and forge strategic partnerships. Eighteen Moroccan exhibitors will showcase their products, offering visitors an immersive experience with authentic local offerings.

Director of Promotion and Development at Morocco Foodex, El Mehdi El Alami, emphasizes that «this participation as a featured country is a major opportunity to promote Morocco's Origine and strengthen the Kingdom's position as an agri-food producer and exporter».

As part of SIAL, Morocco Foodex is planning culinary demonstrations, as well as a series of BtoB meetings between Moroccan exhibitors and Canadian buyers. This fosters closer commercial ties between the two countries.

In figures, Moroccan agri-food exports to Canada have reached a value of 1.5 billion dirhams in 2022, an increase of 47% compared to 2019, and 26% compared to 2021.

Also in 2022, the agri-food sector accounted for 63% of all Moroccan exports to the Canadian market, in terms of value. In this context, the Kingdom's participation at SIAL will be an opportunity to demonstrate expertise and explore new partnerships for cooperation.
