A meeting at the Moroccan embassy in Washington identified the need for a consulate in Miami, according to a statement by the Moroccan embassy in the US. The city is home to a significant portion of the Moroccan community residing and active in the United States.

The meeting, chaired by Ambassador Youssef Amrani on Tuesday, June 11, included all the Consuls General serving Moroccan communities across the United States. The focus of the meeting was upgrading and modernizing consular services for Moroccans living in the US.

During this meeting, Ambassador and the Consuls developed a new roadmap to «review all aspects of consular operations and their administrative support functions», the statement reads. The goal is to elevate the consular service to an «ongoing bridge» that maintains, strengthens, and continuously facilitates connections between the Moroccan community and their homeland.

The meeting also discussed standardizing a revamped consular service, making it «better aligned» with modern practices, offering shorter processing times, and operating with greater efficiency. Digitizing services and mobilizing Moroccan talent in the United States were also key components of the new roadmap.
