Royal pardon frees Omar Radi, Toufiq Bouachrine, Souleimane Raissouni and Maati Mounjib

On Throne Day, King Mohammed VI granted royal pardon to 2,476 people who had been sentenced by various courts in the Kingdom. Among those pardoned were several well-known figures from the fields of journalism and activism, including Taoufik Bouachrine, Omar Radi, Souleimane Raissouni, Maati Mounjib, Reda Taoujni, Youssef El Hirech, Imad Stitou, Afaf Bernani, Hicham Mansouri, and Abdessamad Ait Aicha.

The 2,476 pardoned individuals are categorized as follows:

* 2,278 inmates received a Royal Pardon.

- 171 prisoners had their fines and the remainder of their prison sentences pardoned.

- 2 prisoners were granted a reduction of their prison sentences.

- 2,090 inmates received a remission of their prison sentences.

- 15 prisoners had their life sentences commuted to time served.

* A total of 182 people received a Royal Pardon and are now in liberty:

- 45 people received clemency for their prison sentences or the remainder of their sentences.

- 9 people were pardoned for a prison sentence with a fine.

- 121 people had their fines or the remainder of their fines pardoned.

- 7 people received pardons for both imprisonment and fines.

Additionally, the King pardoned prisoners convicted of extremism and terrorism who officially expressed their commitment to the principles and sanctities of the Nation, revised their ideological views, and rejected extremism and terrorism.

There are 16 such individuals, categorized as follows:

- 7 prisoners were pardoned for the remainder of their sentences.

- 9 inmates received a remission of their prison sentences.
