Ivory Coast has requested that Morocco impose a visa requirement on Ivorian passport holders entering the Kingdom, according to a July 2024 note from the Ivorian Embassy in Rabat.

The document, circulated on social media and reported by Ivorian media, specifies that the measure will apply only to Ivorian citizens holding ordinary passports and is scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2024, for a two-year period.

The Ivorian government claims that the decision aims to regulate migration between the two countries. The note emphasizes that Moroccan citizens and Ivorian passport holders with official passports will not be affected by the new measure.

The Ivorian Embassy has assured Moroccan authorities of its full cooperation in implementing the visa requirement and pledged to effectively communicate the decision to Ivorian citizens.
