French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Morocco by the end of October, the Élysée Palace announced on Friday. This follows an invitation from King Mohammed VI, extended on Thursday to President Macron.

The Moroccan sovereign expressed his optimism, noting «the promising horizons emerging for our two countries», according to the French presidency, as reported by AFP and Le Figaro.

The visit will serve as «an opportunity to provide our exceptional partnership with a renewed and ambitious vision, covering several strategic sectors and addressing the priorities of both nations», added King Mohammed VI, as cited by the Élysée.

This visit follows France's recent shift in its stance on the Sahara, now considering Morocco's autonomy plan as the only viable solution to the conflict.

Macron’s visit also aims to ease lingering diplomatic tensions, including those related to visa restrictions, espionage allegations, and the aftermath of France’s engagement with Algeria.
