The Weir Group plc, a Scottish multinational engineering company headquartered in Glasgow, announced on Monday, September 30, that it had secured a £25m contract to provide energy-efficient and sustainable solutions for the next phase of OCP Group’s Benguerir and Louta greenfield phosphate projects in Morocco.

In a statement published on its website, the company stated that the contract will support the continued construction of the Louta project and the tripling of production at the Benguerir project. Weir has previously delivered similar separation and desliming solutions for Benguerir.

The expansion at Benguerir is set to follow the initial phase, which is expected to commence production in 2024, with a projected mine life of over 100 years.

Once the equipment is commissioned, Weir will provide aftermarket support through technical experts from its Moroccan service center, located near the projects, the statement added.

«We are pleased to have secured this major contract. It represents a strong endorsement of our WARMAN® and CAVEX® ranges, which offer energy-efficient separation solutions at scale, supporting our customer’s productivity and sustainability goals,” said Jon Stanton, Chief Executive Officer of Weir, commenting on the award.

He added, «Along with our industry-leading solutions, we promise our customers world-class service. Our local team is excited to continue delivering for OCP as they commission the initial phase at Benguerir and look to expand these exciting projects».
