Artistic evenings, exhibitions, screenings, and literary encounters will be on the menu of the 24th Week of the Italian Language in the World, to be held from October 14 to 20, 2024 in Rabat, on the initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat, in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Morocco.
Organized under the theme «The Italian and books: the world between the lines», this cultural event promises to be «an event rich in discoveries and cultural exchanges, strengthening the ties between Italy and Morocco», stresses a press release from the organizers.
The event will explore the links between language, literature, and cultural identity. Likewise, «the varied program of events will strengthen the cultural dialogue between Italy and Morocco, while underlining the importance of books in disseminating Italian culture», it adds.
For the Italian ambassador in Rabat, Armando Barucco, this 24th Italian Language Week «is a precious opportunity to promote our language and our cultural heritage. This edition is part of a virtuous process of rapprochement between Italy and Morocco, which affects all areas, including our civil societies and cultures».
For her part, Carmela Callea, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat, noted that this event «goes beyond the simple celebration of language and highlights the link between literature, ideas, and Italian cultural identity».
Quoted in the press release, she expressed her pride «in organizing this event, which strengthens intercultural dialogue between Italy and Morocco, highlighting our common heritage and our values of sharing and openness».
Launched in 2001 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the event, placed under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy, aims to promote Italian as an essential vector of culture, literature, and art.
Each year, a theme is selected to highlight the richness and diversity of Italian culture through a variety of activities, including conferences, exhibitions, film screenings, and meetings with renowned literary and artistic figures.
