A 36-year-old Moroccan citizen, wanted in Italy to serve a 17-year sentence, was arrested in Germany, Italian media reported on Thursday. The man was handed over to the Italian State Police at Linate Airport in Milan.

The arrest resulted from a collaboration between German authorities and the Italian Flying Squad, coordinated by the Terni Prosecutor’s Office, the same source added.

The Moroccan in question was the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by the Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Perugia. He was convicted of drug trafficking crimes committed between 2015 and 2019 in the city of Terni, central Italy.

Recently located in Germany, he was arrested by local authorities and subsequently extradited to Italy to serve his sentence.
