A 24-year-old Moroccan man is facing deportation in Italy over allegations of sexual assault. Police in Bari, southern Italy, have issued an expulsion decree against the man, identified by his initials A.H.
The events leading to this deportation order date back to Sunday, November 24, when the young man was on a bus traveling between Bolzano and Merano.
According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the Moroccan approached a young female passenger and forced her to get off the bus.
He then took her to an isolated and poorly lit area, where he forcibly kissed and touched her.
A Bolzano motorist, who happened to be passing by, noticed the situation and stopped to help the young woman, who was struggling to free herself from the attacker.
The woman called the police, while the 24-year-old fled the scene. However, patrol officers tracked the Moroccan down and detained him.
The man was taken to the police station for identification, where it was discovered that he was homeless in Italy and a refugee. After a validation hearing, the police commissioner, Paolo Sartori, issued an expulsion decree against A.H., along with an order for his detention at the CPR in Bari.
