Swedish multinational telecommunications company Ericsson hosted a four-day event, Technology Days, in Morocco last week, concluding on December 6. In a press release, the company noted that the event, held in Rabat and Casablanca, brought together telecom stakeholders to discuss the transformative potential of 5G for Morocco's digital landscape.
Participants included customers, regulators, local operators, industry partners, and media representatives. The event featured technology demonstrations, immersive sports fan engagement concepts, AI-powered network performance enhancements, and discussions on 5G monetization through network slicing and network exposure.
Ericsson highlighted how 5G could impact various sectors of Moroccan society, such as enhancing sports fan engagement by enabling real-time interactions and improving live event streaming capabilities. Additionally, discussions centered around the benefits of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Software tools for communication service providers (CSPs), particularly in automating and optimizing network performance.
During the event, Ericsson also presented the November 2024 edition of its Mobility Report. The report projects mobile subscriptions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will grow to 830 million by 2030, with 5G accounting for 60% of total subscriptions, reaching an estimated 500 million.
