The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, announced on Tuesday that 35 cities are set to benefit from development projects in preparation for the 2030 World Cup. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing Morocco's infrastructure.
In response to an oral query in the Chamber of Advisors regarding «the strengthening of road infrastructure», Baraka highlighted that the 2030 World Cup represents a pivotal moment for Morocco's development trajectory. He stressed that the projects extend beyond the major cities slated to host the matches, reaching into smaller cities as well.
Baraka underscored that infrastructure development is central to these initiatives. He detailed ongoing efforts to upgrade and expand road facilities, which are crucial for easing congestion in the major host cities and their neighboring areas. These improvements are essential for accommodating the influx of visitors and ensuring smooth operations during the event.
A comprehensive roadmap has been laid out to ensure the successful hosting of the World Cup in 2030. Key projects include the construction of the Grand Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane and the completion of the continental highway linking Rabat and Casablanca by 2029. These developments are expected to significantly bolster the country's infrastructure and contribute to its long-term growth.
