The Moroccan Consulate General in Montreal marked a significant milestone on Wednesday with the official inauguration of its new premises. The ceremony was attended by both Moroccan and Canadian dignitaries.
Designed to blend tradition with modernity, the new headquarters aims to deliver high-quality services to the Moroccan community and serve as a hub for diaspora interactions. «This setting reflects the high concern of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Moroccans around the world», stated Soreya Jabry, Morocco's Consul General in Montreal. She highlighted the royal directives aimed at restructuring institutions dedicated to Moroccans living abroad (MRE) to better address their needs.
The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital data processing system to streamline administrative procedures and enhance the user experience. Fouad Kadmiri, Director of Consular and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointed out that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to bolster consular services in Canada, following the establishment of the Toronto Consulate General in 2021.
Rachel Bendayan, Canada's Federal Minister for Official Languages, commended the Moroccan community in Montreal for their significant contributions to the city's economic and cultural landscape, while also expressing pride in her Moroccan heritage.
Mohamed El Mahdi Gaouane, Deputy Head of Mission at the Moroccan Embassy in Canada, underscored the enduring bonds between Moroccans worldwide and their homeland, emphasizing the Kingdom's dedication to addressing the diaspora's needs.
The new consulate headquarters, which harmoniously combines traditional Moroccan elements like Zellige with modern facilities, stands as a testament to Morocco's commitment to providing consular services that fulfill the expectations of Moroccans residing in Canada.
