A group of Members of the European Parliament, known for their support of separatist claims, attempted to enter Laayoune airport without prior authorization—an initiative widely perceived as hostile to Morocco.

Despite their parliamentary status, these officials traveled to the southern provinces of the Kingdom without an official mandate or approval from their institution. Their visit was not part of any recognized mission and was undertaken without prior consultation with the relevant authorities.

Relations between the Moroccan and European Parliaments remain positive, particularly following a meeting last December between Rachid Talbi Alami, President of the Moroccan Parliament, and Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament.

Dialogue mechanisms between the two institutions are in place, notably through the Joint Parliamentary Committee, which is responsible for addressing issues related to their cooperation.
