In recent days, Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred's X (formerly Twitter) account has announced the upcoming launch of his own cryptocurrency. According to the pop star, his goal is to create a digital token that benefits his fans by offering exclusive perks like meet-and-greets and privileged access to his concerts.
My dear fans and followers, I’m planning to launch my own token, but I want to do it differently not the usual way. My goal is to create a token that genuinely benefits my fans and followers, with tokenomics designed to bring communities closer together. I’d love for it to tie…

This move follows the «celebrity coin» trend, which has been embraced by several stars, including rapper Akon and, more recently, former U.S. President Donald Trump.
This isn't the first time Saad Lamjarred has ventured into new technologies and digital assets. In 2022, he became the first Moroccan artist to have his image integrated into the Metaverse as an NFT. Partnering with «Meta Boundless», his avatar was meant to allow fans to attend virtual concerts, much like what was done on Fortnite with artists such as Travis Scott and Ariana Grande. However, that project lost momentum as the Metaverse failed to live up to expectations.

While the credibility of «celebrity coin» is often questioned, certain elements raise doubts about the authenticity of Saad Lamjarred's cryptocurrency announcement. First, the post appeared only on his X account, which has 1.13 million followers. No similar posts were made on Facebook (3.5 million followers) or Instagram, where Lamjarred is more active, with 15.4 million followers.
An inactive account since October 2024, the singer's X account suddenly came to life with a single purpose: promoting the cryptocurrency. This raises suspicions of a possible hacking, particularly since a second tweet was posted this Thursday, asking for user opinions on which blockchain to use.
After all the suggestions, I gathered some very good ideas! The question is now: which chain is most suitable for it? Some say Solana, but many say @BNBCHAIN . What do you think?

This tactic—engaging the community to lend credibility to a project—is commonly used in cryptocurrency scams.
A Rising concern : Scams in Morocco
This wouldn't be the first time a Moroccan public figure has been used to deceive the public. Recently, a fake account impersonating the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, was created to scam citizens out of money. However, in Saad Lamjarred's case, the situation appears more sophisticated. Instead of creating a fake account, it seems the hacker may have taken direct control of Lamjarred's real X account.
If this pattern is consistent, it's clear that Lamjarred was targeted due to his high profile. A popular Moroccan singer, he rose to fame in 2007 after participating in the Lebanese TV show SuperStar. His 2015 hit «Lm3allem» became a massive success, with over a billion views on YouTube.
However, his career has been overshadowed by multiple legal issues. Lamjarred has faced rape charges in France, notably in 2016 and 2018. In 2023, he was convicted of raping a young woman in Paris in 2016, receiving a six-year prison sentence, though he was released in April of that year pending his appeal. Lamjarred has also been involved in similar cases in the U.S. and Morocco, but none have led to definitive convictions.
Yabiladi was unable to reach Saad Lamjarred to verify the authenticity of the announcement.
