A multidisciplinary medical team at Arrazi Hospital, part of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) in Marrakech, has successfully reattached a fully amputated hand in a groundbreaking surgical procedure.

The operation involved the reattachment of a patient’s right hand, which had been completely severed at the wrist in a work accident involving an electric saw, according to a statement from CHU Mohammed VI.

The complex seven-hour surgery was followed by ten days of intensive medical supervision to ensure the restored hand regained vitality, the statement noted.

The 52-year-old patient, who is now in good health, remains hospitalized in the trauma-orthopedics department at Arrazi Hospital, where he continues to receive specialized care, including rehabilitation sessions.

This remarkable medical achievement adds to the growing list of successes at CHU Mohammed VI in Marrakech, showcasing the expertise and dedication of its medical teams and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services, the statement concluded.
