On Thursday, April 3, Spanish authorities deported a Moroccan national to his home country after he completed a prison sentence at Zuera Central Prison. He had been sentenced to four years and ten months for charges related to violent robbery, attempted theft, and physical assault.

The deportation was carried out under Article 89 of the Spanish Penal Code, which allows prison sentences to be substituted with expulsion from Spanish territory. He has been banned from re-entering Spain for seven years, according to Spanish media reports.

The case dates back to 2024, when the man, who was residing illegally in Spain, attempted to steal a passerby’s bag by force, injuring the victim’s eye. A few days later, he snatched a gold chain from the neck of a 77-year-old woman, and on the same day, assaulted a third victim and stole her bag.

Investigations revealed that the individual had previously been arrested twice in Zaragoza for similar thefts involving violence.

The deportation was conducted via a special flight overseen by the General Directorate of Immigration and Borders, part of the National Police, as part of a broader campaign to deport Moroccan migrants who are living illegally in Spain and have final criminal convictions.
