Three armed members of the Polisario militias have surrendered to units of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) operating in the Sahara. «The surrender took place this afternoon in Oum Dreiga», a Moroccan security source told Yabiladi. The area is located in Aousserd Province, part of the Dakhla–Oued Eddahab region.

As with previous similar incidents, the three individuals are currently being interrogated by Moroccan military authorities. It’s worth noting that in March 2019, a group of 12 Polisario fighters had also surrendered to the FAR, followed in July 2020 by the defection of a high-ranking officer of the Front.

Since November 13, 2020, when the separatist movement declared a «war» against Morocco, its leadership has been sending militia members—often recruited from marginalized and impoverished tribes in the Tindouf camps—to attack FAR positions east of the Sand Wall. These attempted incursions are frequently neutralized by FAR drones.
