This week, French authorities apprehended a Moroccan driver in Lorraine after discovering 253 kilograms of cannabis resin in a utility truck registered in Spain. The 43-year-old, who holds a Spanish residence permit, was presented before the judicial court in Nancy on Friday. The court has ordered his detention until his trial, which is scheduled for October 1st.

On Saturday, French media outlets reported that the arrest occurred last Wednesday on the A31 highway during a checkpoint at the Loisy rest area in Meurthe-et-Moselle. According to France 3 Regions, customs officers found the drugs concealed in 40-kilogram bundles, cleverly hidden within fruit packaging.

The driver reportedly claimed ignorance of the illegal cargo. According to these sources, the operation led to what is described as «one of the largest drug seizures of the year».
