The Inspector of the Moroccan Air Force is currently on a working visit to the United States. Yesterday, he met with his American counterpart. «Excellent discussion about shared priorities w/Gen. Mohammed Gadih, Inspector of the Royal Moroccan Air Force», wrote General David Allvin on the X platform. He emphasized that «The US Air Force is thankful for Morocco’s historic partnership and pivotal role promoting regional security and stability».

This visit by General Gadih follows recent international reports suggesting that the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) might acquire 32 F-35 A aircraft. According to these reports, Israel has approved the Moroccan order. «During the latest edition of the IDEX (International Defence Exhibition) in Abu Dhabi, held in February, representatives from Lockheed Martin reportedly showcased the capabilities of this fifth-generation aircraft to a Moroccan military delegation», the sources indicate.

In 2020, as Morocco resumed diplomatic relations with Israel, it was anticipated that Morocco would procure these aircraft, akin to deals made by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. However, the project was delayed by the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden.
