On Tuesday, October 14, Moroccan courts sentenced a student to one year in prison for hacking the display boards of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) in Casablanca, where he broadcast a derogatory message directed at the police.

According to the prosecutor at the Ain Sebaa First Instance Criminal Court, the student, identified as Fakhreddine B., was charged with insulting public officials, unauthorized access to an automated data system, and disrupting and disabling that system.

The young man unlawfully accessed the management network controlling the promotional screens for AFCON 2025, an event hosted by Morocco, to display offensive remarks targeting national security forces.

The incident, which occurred on September 30, coincided with the early days of the GenZ protests, prompting a swift judicial investigation.
