Former Unified Socialist Party (PSU) secretary general Nabila Mounib has raised concern over what she described as «content promoting deviance» in certain literacy classes held in Moroccan mosques. She called for an urgent review of these programs and urged vigilance over what is being taught, implying they promote homosexuality, though she did not provide concrete evidence to support her claims.
Mounib also warned of the dangers posed by some international commitments, which she alleged carry both explicit and hidden agendas.
Her remarks came during a parliamentary session held yesterday to discuss the report on literacy program evaluations. She noted that around 25% of Moroccans remain illiterate, stressing the need for a comprehensive national strategy.
Mounib further highlighted persistent disparities in literacy rates between men and women and across different regions. She proposed the creation of a dedicated ministry for the eradication of illiteracy to unify efforts in this area, along with a broad reform of the education system integrating preschool and primary education to eliminate illiteracy once and for all.
In conclusion, she called for the establishment of a «People’s School», an educational institution aimed at instilling ethical values and strengthening critical thinking among learners.
Known for her conspiratorial rhetoric, Mounib previously claimed in 2020 that the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) virus was part of a global plot to «annihilate the Arab people».
