The National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) has responded to the controversy that has been shaking the Provisional Commission for Press and Publishing Management in Morocco for several weeks. In a statement issued Monday, December 15, the CNDP denied any responsibility for the non-publication of the lists of professional journalist cards.
To «dispel any confusion», the Commission clarified that «this matter does not fall within its jurisdiction» and reiterated that it has «previously and explicitly stated on several occasions that it does not oppose the publication of these lists».
This clarification comes days after the president of the Provisional Commission, Younès Moujahid, said in a video shared on social media that publishing the list of press cards raised concerns over personal data protection. He claimed that, following consultation, the CNDP had not objected to the publication, but that a «media company» had blocked the process. Moujahid did not disclose the name of the company in question.
