3,305 new Moroccan female workers have been chosen in Morocco to take part in the upcoming red fruit harvesting season in Huelva province. They will join 14,525 workers from various nationalities who have participated in previous agricultural campaigns, according to reports from Spanish media.
Manuel Piedra, Secretary-General of the UPA Huelva organization, noted that «99.98 percent of the contracts were awarded to women from rural areas, originating from their villages and neighboring regions». This initiative is part of the recruitment process from the country of origin under the GECCO program.
The selected workers are expected to commence the harvesting season in March, aligning with an increased demand for labor. They are scheduled to return to Morocco upon the completion of their contracts in May or June.
