Sidi Kacem begins phased return of residents after climate disruptions

Local authorities in the Sidi Kacem province are entering a new stage in addressing the aftermath of the severe climate disruptions that have impacted the region. After completing emergency evacuation operations, the focus now shifts to the careful and monitored return of residents.

An integrated plan has been crafted to orchestrate the various phases of resettlement. This plan outlines the transportation resources deployed, the selected routes, and the on-the-ground support measures.

Starting this Sunday, the initial phase of the program will benefit residents of the following areas:

City of Mechraâ Belksiri: Al Limoun Neighborhood, Bioutat Neighborhood;

Commune of Selfat: Douar Achnakla Mex, Douar Ouled Ammar Mex;

Commune of Toukna: Douar Miadma, Douar Ben Aâmara 2;

Commune of Moulay Abdelkader: Douar Amâarif Sedra, Douar Aqnadel Nakhla, Douar Ouled Messaoud;

Commune of Sidi Azzouz: Douar Ouled Sabah, Douar Ouled Yaâcoub, Douar Ouled Jti, Douar Ouled Hammad, Douar Ouled Hamdane, Douar Al Hamniyine, Douar Ouled Atouijr, Douar Al Kamna, Douar Adghoughiyine;

Commune of Lmrabih: Douar Al Hart Ajouira, Douar Ouled Gharbi, Douar Ounzate;

Commune of Sidi El Kamel: Douar Ouled Hamed, Douar Souassiyine, Douar Al Maâtaka, Douar Agdadra Al Massira, Douar Al Faqra and Cooperative Al Khams, Douar Al Hararta Lqrat;

Other affected areas will be addressed in future announcements, depending on the evolving situation on the ground and the condition of infrastructure.

Authorities also urge residents of areas not listed to refrain from attempting to return to the affected zones until official clearance is given. The return is conditioned on the receding water levels and the assurance of adequate reception conditions. Checkpoints will be established at the entrances of the concerned areas.
