Artworks from the 2025 Jidar street art festival are now competing for the inaugural Jidar Grand Prize (GPJ), with public voting open from March 20 to April 16, 2026. The initiative aims to spotlight the murals created during the festival’s tenth anniversary edition, while establishing the award as a «regular event» to crown a «mural of the year».

According to a press release, the launch of the GPJ comes ahead of the festival’s next edition, set to begin on April 17. This extension of the artistic experience and public engagement marks «a new stage» in showcasing the murals.

«This initiative aims to highlight the artistic excellence of the festival’s works, celebrate the diversity of visual styles and artistic signatures in Rabat, enhance the heritage and lasting value of murals in the urban landscape, and directly involve the public in recognizing these artworks», the statement reads.

The prize will be awarded to «the artist whose work resonates most with the public and receives the highest number of votes». Residents, visitors, and urban art enthusiasts can vote via a dedicated platform, the festival’s official website, or its social media channels.

The initiative further reinforces the festival’s role in transforming Rabat’s walls into «platforms for monumental artistic expression», bringing together Moroccan and international artists to engage with urban spaces through original and sustainable works.

Organizers also highlighted the festival’s growing impact, noting that «over the years, these murals have gradually formed a true open-air urban art trail, positioning the city as a major international street art destination».
