Morocco is marking, this Thursday, May 14, the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). On this occasion, King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the FAR, issued an Order of the Day.
In his message, the sovereign called for efforts to «continue implementing the modern scientific programs that have been adopted, with a focus on integrated projects in the fields of applied and technical scientific research, artificial intelligence, digitalization and cybersecurity, in order to bring about a qualitative transformation within the Royal Armed Forces».
The king also stressed the importance of developing human capital and strengthening the professional skills of the FAR, «through the development and updating of training, internship and supervision programs».
This strategic direction comes against a backdrop of rapidly evolving defense technologies. The 2026 edition of the African Lion exercise, organized jointly by the FAR and the U.S. military, devoted significant attention to the role of artificial intelligence in the wars of tomorrow.
