Morocco confirms Eid al-Adha 2026 for May 27

Morocco’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday that Monday, May 18, 2026, will mark the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447, following the confirmed sighting of the lunar crescent.

As a result, Eid al-Adha will be celebrated in Morocco on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, according to the ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said the crescent moon was observed on the evening of Sunday, May 17, corresponding to 29 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1447, and confirmed through Islamic legal testimony.

The ministry also extended prayers and blessings to Mohammed VI, the royal family, the Moroccan people, and the wider Muslim world on the occasion of the holy month and Eid al-Adha.
