A court in Quebec has ruled in favor of Jamal Lahrour, deputy King’s prosecutor at the Aïn Sebaâ criminal court in Casablanca, and Mohamed Loulidi, police governor in Tetouan, in a defamation case against YouTuber Hicham Jerando.

The Superior Court of Quebec, District of Montreal, ordered Jerando to permanently remove all videos deemed defamatory toward the two officials from publicly accessible platforms. He was also permanently barred from publishing or disseminating, directly or indirectly, any defamatory content concerning them.

The ruling further ordered Jerando to pay each plaintiff 50,000 Canadian dollars (around 335,000 dirhams) in damages for harm to their reputation, in addition to another 50,000 Canadian dollars for moral prejudice, distress, and inconvenience.

According to the operative part of the judgment, each plaintiff is therefore entitled to receive 105,000 Canadian dollars, plus legal interest and the additional indemnity applicable to compensatory damages starting from January 12, 2026.

The judgment also stipulates that the plaintiffs’ lawyers must take the necessary steps to ensure that the defendant receives an official copy of the ruling within ten days of its issuance.

In July 2025, Quebec courts had already ordered Hicham Jerando to pay 164,514 Canadian dollars (around 1.1 million dirhams) to Adil Saïd Lamrti, a lawyer at the Casablanca bar, in a separate defamation case.
