Moroccan orange exports to Germany surge fourfold

Morocco has dramatically increased its orange exports to Germany, boosting them by more than fourfold in the 2025/2026 season. This achievement positions the country closer to breaking into the ranks of the top five orange suppliers to the German market for the first time, as reported by EastFruit, a platform that specializes in the fruit and vegetable trade.

From November 2025 to April 2026, Germany imported approximately 8,800 tonnes of Moroccan oranges, valued at over €11.4 million. This amount is 2.5 times higher than the previous season's total exports and over four times the volume recorded during the same period in the previous year.

While Spain maintains its dominance in the German market, along with South Africa, Italy, Greece, and Egypt, Moroccan exports managed to surpass those of Egypt by mid-season. This strengthens Morocco's prospects of becoming one of the top five orange suppliers to Germany, according to the report.

The report highlights that this performance underscores Morocco's rising prominence in the German citrus sector, coinciding with a new seasonal record in its cucumber exports.
