Remittances from Moroccans living abroad (MREs) exceeded 50.22 billion dirhams by the end of May 2026, up from 46.16 billion dirhams during the same period a year earlier, according to the Office des Changes.
In its latest monthly foreign trade bulletin, the Office reported that these transfers increased by 8.8% year-on-year.
The bulletin also showed that Morocco's travel balance posted a surplus of nearly 40 billion dirhams, marking a 19.4% increase compared with the same period last year.
The improvement was driven by stronger growth in travel receipts, which rose 14.6% to 53.76 billion dirhams, outpacing the increase in travel expenditure, which climbed 2.7% to 13.77 billion dirhams.
