In a survey released yesterday 15th May by the High Commission for Planning, 97.1 per cent of Moroccan families expect food prices to increase while 1.4 only awaits the opposite, the Middle East Monitor reports today.

The same source states that 87.4 per cent of families think that supply costs have increased during the past 12 months compared to 0.6 who claimed the contrary. The survey suggests that one third of Moroccan families had to borrow money to afford the spending of the first quarter of 2017.

57.5 per cent of households declared that their spending meet their wages while 35.1 said that they are in depth, according to the online newspaper. Furthermore, the Commission pointed out that 74.5 per cent of Moroccans think that unemployment will  be increased in the 12 upcoming months.

On the other hand, the institution says that the rate of unemployment has dropped by 0.3 per cent while The Ministry of Finance has declared earlier this year that inflation reached 1,6 per cent in February 2017.

For the record, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) is an independent government statistical institution that was established in 2003, it works on conducting surveys and providing a range of economic, social and demographic statistical data.
