Muslims from all over the world are impatiently awaiting the first day of Ramdan. Saudi Arabia is the first country to announce the beginning of the sacred month.
According to Ajlnews online newspaper, Saturday is meant to be the first day of Ramadan in the Wahabi kingdom knowing that the 29th of Chaabane is today in Saudi Arabia as moon-sighting couldn’t determine the precise appearance of the hilal, the same source indicates.
For its part, Yemen announced that the month of Ramadan begins this Saturday through a statement from issued by the Yamani Ministry of Islamic Affairs. Australia has also indicated through the Council of imams of Australia that the sacred month will begin Saturday.
In France, the Grand Mosque of Paris is expected to host a short symbolic ceremony on Thursday, during which the French Council for Muslim Worship (CFCM) will announce the the first day of Ramadan, reports Le Parisien. The Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF), whose announcement is based on scientific methods of astronomical calculations, has already declared that the first day of the month of Ramadan will be Saturday 27th of May, 2017.
Other countries will also have to announce this Thursday the beginning of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. However, many countries, like Morocco, will only observe the moon on Friday night.
