A few weeks after the UK safety and security department issued a statement warning British tourists about the situation in Al Hoceima, Germany is also doing the same thing. The European country called its citizens who wish to visit Morocco to remain cautious and avoid traveling to the northern region of the Kingdom.
According to a statement published on the official website of Germany's Federal Foreign Office, manifestations can occur at anytime in big cities and also in the northern region of the country. «The protests are mostly directed against social injustice, corruption, and public authorities. Although they are generally carried out without violent activities, it is strongly recommended to avoid demonstrations and gatherings of people and to follow the political situation attentively», the same source stated.
The administrative website also reminded visitors that «traveling to remote areas of the Sahara, to the border regions with Algeria and Mauritania and on the other side of fortified roads is to be avoided». The same source points out that during Ramadan, schedules change. «It is recommended not to eat nor drink in public and to smoke only in restaurants that offer meals during the day», the German website concluded.
